Thank you for your interest in Fine Gardens, Inc. I have been smitten with garden design and horticulture since early in life. From the first "turtle pond" dug behind our garage, to planted terrariums that held the woodland wonders I collected, I knew outdoor work with plants was my calling.
My favorite times past have always taken place outdoors. Paddling, hiking, biking or just lying on my back, gazing up into tree canopies are some of the outdoor activities that I love most.
I love oak trees - the bur oak is a favorite. Long-lived, stout and picturesque - the only young tree able to survive fire! For the 2008 season I am planting a seedling for any client that wants one.
Professionally, I hold a degree in Ornamental Horticulture. I belong to the Association of Professional Landscape Designers and the International Professional Pond Contractors Association. I have served on the Klehm Arboretum Design Committee in Rockford, IL and I have taught design classes for the Winnebago County Extension service. I have made presentations to and hosted in my own garden, several local Geneva Lakes garden clubs. Local newspapers have interviewed me on Hortiicultural subjects and I have lectured about water gardens at Northwind Perennial Farm.
I always strive to learn from others, their gardens, and all the wonderful literature on the subject of horticulture and design.
